Welcome 2021 AmeriCorps Service Members!

Welcome Taylor!

Taylor started in January and has been splitting her time between the Community Alliance and the Community Food Bank (CFB). During her Service Term, Taylor will be working with Extension Agent, Ann Duncan, R.D., and the Community Food Bank team to help clients select and use healthy foods. Once the growing season starts, Taylor will join our veggie team to provide fresh produce to food assistance programs on the Western Slope.

Taylor has a Bachelor’s degree in marketing with a nutrition minor and have spent the past few years traveling, working in communications at Impossible Foods, and living seasonally in Lake Tahoe, California. She enjoys spending time outside in the sun going for long hikes and backpacking trips, and am looking forward to exploring parts of western Colorado this year.

Welcome Tori!

Tori started in March – just in time to enjoy the Western Colorado winds. Tori has experience working with special populations throughout Texas and Wisconsin and found a passion in connecting with community members over nature and food. With three seasons of farming experience, Tori will be leading our veggie production team in 2021 as our a Farm to Food Bank Coordinator. We are excited to have Tori’s experience in fruit and vegetable production and commitment to increasing communities’ access to healthy foods.

What is AmeriCorps Service? AmeriCorps is a partnership between the National and State AmeriCorps Program and local organizations. Members work in their host communities on all kinds of big problems. We are in our second year of being an AmeriCorps host site with Mountain Roots Healthy Futures Program. Our members serve the public good by making more fresh fruits and vegetables available to food assistance programs and working to help address other barriers people might have to consuming fresh produce. Our members are civic minded and in their off-time are often volunteering with other organizations and even donating blood.
